What is Beach Sweep/River Sweep?

Beach Sweep/River Sweep is South Carolina’s largest one-day volunteer waterway cleanup event. Every 3rd Saturday in September since 1988, thousands of South Carolinians clear beaches, rivers, lakes, marshes, and swamps of aquatic debris.

The S.C. Sea Grant Consortium leads the beach cleanup efforts, while SCDNR leads the inland cleanups. The Sweep takes place in conjunction with the International Coastal Cleanup, coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy.

The Sea Beyond Foundation is proud to annually partner with the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium by hosting the Beach Sweep at the Springmaid Pier. Join us Saturday, September 20th at 9 AM. The public is welcome to come out and volunteer with us to keep our beaches beautiful. All supplies will be provided, so come as you are.
